My dream job
I don’t really have a dream job, but there is a lot of things I would like to work with. But one of the things I would like to work with is owning a bakery or a café. I love to make cakes and cookies, and of course eating them. Working as a baker or a pastry chef seems so fun, but I think working as a pastry chef would suit me better. I don’t want to go up in the middle of the night, just to bake some bread. It seems more fun to do all the cakes and decorations, be a little more artistic.
You can become a pastry chef or a baker, both by hard work and education. Some cafes requires a educated baker, but other choose by talent.
It’s a quite common job, but it’s not super common. Both men an women can work as a baker, it’s a very mixed job. You don’t have to go abroad to work, there is plenty of jobs here. But it’s quite common to work abroad for a few years, just to learn and develop new things and skills.
You don’t earn so much working as a baker or pastry chef, around 20000 kr. But I want to own a café to, so I could earn much more, or less.
If you are a baker, you probably go up very early in morning, maybe 3 am.
Then you bake bread, buns and stuff like that. Usually you don’t have long work hours, you end work around 11-12 am.
If you are a pastry chef, you don’t have to start work as early. You start work around 5-6 am. Working as a pastry chef you decorate cakes, make birthday and wedding cakes and you do chocolate and marzipan figures.
Pastry chefs also quit work around lunch, but this varies from bakery to bakery.
I work at a bakery, but I stand behind the counter selling all the bread and cakes. I think it’s very fun, but I would have to be upstairs in the bakery.
My work starts at seven am, so the bakers and pastry chefs has already been there several hours. The best part about my job is that me and my colleagues always gets to try the new cakes first. Elin is a pastry chef at my work, and she always makes the sweetest cakes and decorations.
I have always thought it’s very fun to cook food and bake. My mom has always let me help in the kitchen, and it was okey to fail or mess up. She didn’t expect us kids to succeed at once, so you didn’t have to worry about failing. I think I have always been interested in baking and cooking, it’s a part of my life.
To own my own café hasn’t been my dream job all my life, I used to dream about becoming a doctor, maybe for the last 3 years.
I would love to have a place were I can furnish and do whatever I want.
I would like to have a beautiful and nice place, were people can eat and drink and just have a nice time.
It would be fantastic to have a place that’s just my own, were I can decide and make all the rules.
I don’t think I would like to own my own place for my whole life. Maybe just for a few years, five maybe.
I would like to get a education first, so I always got a back-up plan.
But I guess if my café would go very well, and word got around, I would probably keep it.
And maybe I would think it’s so much fun, that I wouldn’t want to quit.
But there is a risk that I wouldn’t like it at all, and that’s why a need a education to lean against.
